Whether it’s for a few months or a few years, stars from Bollywood to Hollywood, like Deepika Padukone, Lady Gaga, Janhvi Kapoor and many others have opened up about their choice to stay single for a while. Back in the day, Lady Gaga made headlines for her candid remarks about choosing celibate and single after a break-up. The "Born This Way" singer told the 'Daily Mail' that she was single and had decided to stay that way for a while, explaining that she simply didn’t have the time to get to know anyone new. Gaga also encouraged others to feel comfortable with their choices, adding, “It’s OK to be whomever it is that you want to be... if you’re not ready, don’t do it.”

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone also took a break from dating after experiencing difficult relationships. Reflecting on that period, she said, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I just didn’t want to be attached, didn’t want to be committed.” Deepika embraced her time alone, focusing on herself and enjoying her independence.

Before her romance with Robert Pattinson, Suki Waterhouse took a six-month break from dating, which she described as a time of peace and clarity. On Apple’s "Driven Minds" podcast, the 'Daisy Jones & the Six' star explained how staying single gave her a break from the “chaos” of dating. “It’s just something about taking away the chaos of receiving attention, having to deal with it and texting people… It turned out to be great,” she said. Waterhouse’s time alone helped her become comfortable with herself, and ironically, she ended up meeting Pattinson.

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor also made the decision to stay single, choosing to focus on her personal growth. In a conversation with Shanaya Kapoor, Janhvi revealed that she planned to stay single for at least two years. This came after her highly publicised love life. When asked why, she simply said, “No one deserves my company at the moment.” Shanaya supported her decision, and Maheep Kapoor couldn't agree anymore saying, “good answer.”

Halle Berry has long been an advocate for taking time to heal after a break-up. In a candid interview with Marie Claire, Berry reflected on the three-year "sabbatical" she embarked on after her split from ex-husband Olivier Martinez. The actress revealed that while she had always been deliberate about her career, she hadn’t applied the same level of clarity to her love life. During her dating hiatus, Berry spent time engaging in self-reflection, attending therapy and even travelled to India to study meditation to better understand herself.
