New reports shared about Nick Reiner reveal that he had changed his medications a month prior to Rob and Michele Reiner’s demise. It has been shared that he struggled with getting by because of the medication change.

Nick Reiner had been struggling with his diagnosis and had been on medication change only a month before his parents’ killing, reported The New York Times. They also added in the report that from 2020 to 2021, the 32-year-old was under a mental health conservatorship. Nick had also been diagnosed with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder over the course of the past few years. The report also added that his medications had been changed a month before his parents’ murder, as he had been dealing with a lot of side effects.


Another earlier report from People had shared that his parents had tried hard for many years to support him; however, Nick had always been strained by their actions. They also added that, “His family was empathetic to how much his struggles contributed to his behavior. They never lost hope in him, even when he was scaring them or making their lives harder.”

Last month, director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found in their homes by their daughter. The two were found with a lot of stabbing wounds. Hours later, after investigation and search, their 32-year-old son Nick Reiner was found and taken into custody over the alleged murder of his parents.

Since then, the man has been kept in an isolated space in a high-security prison, where he is under constant mental health observation. At first, Reiner had been under suicide watch; however, it was later revealed that he had been removed from the constant surveillance.

Recently, Reiner also appeared in court, where his attorney announced that due to unforeseeable reasons, he will have to resign from his position. A district attorney was allotted to him by the government.
