Oscars 2021 as it happened: Nomadland wins Best Picture, Anthony Hopkins and Frances McDormand take home Best Actor trophy

The biggest night in Hollywood is finally here! Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the award ceremony will be a little different this year. The ceremony will be held across two venues in Hollywood - the Dolby Theatre and downtown Los Angeles' historic Union Station. The one night that celebrates and recognises the best in the movie business, is all set to unfold soon, and everyone will be vying to walk away with the grand prize–an Oscar. A host of last year’s academy award winners from Bong Joon Ho to Joaquin Phoenix to Brad Pitt, will return to the stage to present the awards.‘Nomadland’, which is Chinese-born Chloe Zhao's slow-burn quasi-documentary about the traveling community of American van dwellers, is currently the favourite to take home the trophy in the Best Picture category. Other Best Picture nominees are 1930s Hollywood drama ‘Mank’, which is leading the count with as many as 10 nominations, revenge tale ‘Promising Young Woman’, Korean immigrant family story ‘Minari’, civil rights biopic ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’, dementia tale ‘The Father’, and ‘Sound of Metal’, the story of a deaf drummer. The late ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman appears to be in line for his first Oscar, for his final film role ‘Ma Rainey's Black Bottom’.
