The Batman to Jungle Book: Hollywood films that won box office clashes with Bollywood films

Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' went up against Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhund' at the box office this weekend. It was the first of the many Hollywood vs Bollywood clashes set up at the box office this 2022. Going by the numbers, the superhero movie has taken the lead at the ticket windows. Here's a list of Hollywood films that clashed with Bollywood releases and came out victorious at the box office.

2/6

The Batman vs Jhund

Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' was off to a flying start at the Indian box office. The film that is only the second major Hollywood release post 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', scored a good first day at the ticket windows, despite sharing business with Megastar Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhund'. While the superhero film earned Rs 14 crore nett in two days 'Jhund' earned Rs 2.45 crore.

3/6

Godzilla Vs Kong vs Saina

'Godzilla Vs Kong' and the Parineeti Chopra starrer 'Saina' were among the few films that dared to release in theatres last year. The films clashed at the box office in March, but only one could draw the audiences to theatres. The monsterverse film emerged as a surprise hit at the box office and scored better than the Bollywood films that were released in the same month, including John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi's 'Mumbai Saga'. 'Godzilla Vs Kong' earned an impressive Rs 40 crore in its first week, while the 'Saina' biopics only earned Rs 1.16 crore.

4/6

XXX: Return Of Xander Cage vs OK Jaanu

Deepika Padukone's Hollywood debut ' XXX: Return of Xander Cage' clashed with Shraddha Kapoor's 'OK Jaanu' at the box office. While the numbers weren't as high as expected, 'XXX' waled out with a collection of Rs 51.6 crores while 'OK Jaanu' earned around Rs 29 crores.

5/6

Furious 7 vs Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's 'Furious 7' clashed with Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' at the domestic box office. To everyone's surprise, the Hollywood flick that also marked Walker's final turn as the much-loved character, elipsed the SSR starrer to emerge as the clear winner. While 'F7' earned an estimated Rs 172 crores, 'Byomkesh' only grossed Rs 34 crores.

6/6

Jungle Book vs Fan

While 'Jungle Book' was released a week early in India to make way for Shah Rukh Khan's 'Fan', the final numbers indicated that the film took the box office business with it. While the live-action film went on to become the highest-grossing Hollywood release in India that year with a collection of Rs 183 crore, 'Fan' fell short and rounded off collections at an estimated Rs 85 crore.

Bollywood movies are much lower quality than Hollywood movies, and SRK should never have been in Bollywood.
