Harry Styles admits laughing at grandma’s funeral thinking of cremation songs: 'And then I was off'
Harry Styles says he laughed at his grandmother’s funeral after thinking about “inappropriate cremation songs.” The Grammy winner shared the story during a recent appearance on Brittany Broski’s show ‘Royal Court,’ where he stopped by to promote his upcoming album, ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.’ What started as a light conversation about songwriting quickly turned into an unexpectedly candid moment.
“I really like cremation songs,” Styles confessed, as Broski and the room erupted in laughter.
He then explained why he once laughed at his grandmother’s funeral. “It feels so inappropriate because of how abrupt it was,” Styles added. “And then I just started thinking about inappropriate cremation songs. … And then I was off.”
Styles went on to reveal which songs popped into his head at that moment. He named Dan Hartman’s “Relight My Fire,” The Trammps’ “Disco Inferno” and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” The dark humor clearly surprised the audience, but Styles leaned into the awkwardness and owned the story.
Later this year, Styles will launch an extensive world tour. The schedule includes several residencies across different cities around the globe.
His appearance on ‘Royal Court’ blended humor with honesty. The story about the funeral revealed his tendency to find strange connections between music and real life. It also showed how quickly his mind moves from a serious setting to song ideas. As he continues promoting ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,’ fans are getting a glimpse of both his playful side and his creative process.
