City’s art lovers spent a splendid Sunday evening indulging in the love story of Chitrangada and Arjun depicted by an Odissi dancing troupe at Tribal Museum. The dance performance was apart of the weekly series Uttaradhikar at the museum and was performed by Padmshree Odissi exponent Ranjana Gauhar and her group. Chitrangada, a Manipuri princess falls in love with Arjun when she meets him for the first time.
On the other hand, Arjun doesn’t even notice Chitrangda’s love for him. She, after receiving no attention from Arjun starts worshipping Madan, the god of love. Chitrangada is then blessed by Madana, and Arjun starts loving her. Each and every instance of their love story is gracefully enacted by swift dance movements and beatific expressions. The performance culminates with the duo getting married.
