A musical award night

Awadh Festival and Naushad Samman Award night was organized at a hotel in Gomtinagar recently. At the event, playback singer Shaan, along with seven other artists were awarded the prestigious Naushad Samman of Uttar Pradesh.

Chief guest Brajesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister, UP praised the awardees and appreciated their work. Noted theatre personality Salim Arif came for the event all the way from Mumbai to support Zafar Nabi, the organiser.
The other award recipients at the night included music director Mithoon, Dr Hari Om, Priyanka Barve, Maahiri Bose, Antara Nandi, Sitar player Imran Khan and theatre artiste Suresh Sharma.

The event kick-started with a soulful performance by Maahiri Bose, who sang several evergreen ghazals. Her performance was followed by Antara Nandi, who sang Rang Sari Gulabi Chunariya in Raag Pahadi. Dr Hari Om’s performance, who sang Main Tere Pyar Mein Pagal by Kishore Kumar, was much appreciated by everyone present. The Kathak dance performance by Nayanika Ghosh on Chhaap Tilak Sab Chhinni Re was a sight to behold. The night came to an end with the performance of sitar player Imran Khan, belonging to the Sikar Gharana, who played the composition of Naushad, Mohe Panghat Pe Nandlal.
