'Laalo-Krishna Sada Sahaayate' did not begin its journey with big numbers. The Gujarati film released during last Diwali opened slowly in theaters. Gradually, the film’s collections kept growing. Eventually, 'Laalo' crossed the huge mark of Rs 100 crores.
Actor
Karan Joshi, who plays 'Laalo,' spoke to Bollywood Hungama about this journey and said he and his team are not shocked by the success. “But me and my team aren’t very surprised because we knew that if we work honestly, it will turn out to be good.”
How success changed Karan Joshi’s life
For Karan Joshi, this success has brought many changes. He spoke honestly about how life feels different now. “It has changed in a lot of ways,” he said. “Earlier, 40 people used to recognize me; now it’s 400. That’s the difference.”
He also shared how people now trust him more as an actor. “People’s trust towards me as an actor has increased so much that I can pull the film all by myself.” This belief means a lot to him, especially because this is his debut film.
Rooted films will lead Gujarati cinema
Karan believes Laalo has done more than just earn money. He feels it has started something new in Gujarati cinema.
“We are happy that after our film, the culture of rooted films will start in Gujarati,” he said.
He explained how the film connected with everyone. “In Gujarat, there are urban and rural films. Our film lies in between. So, it has been seen in rural and urban areas.” He added, “More than watching, they are celebrating the film. Every person was bringing five others with him.”
This made him believe in honest work even more. “If I work with such honesty in every project, I will get such a result. Not necessarily earning Rs. 100 crores, as not all films can see such miracles.”
Living the character of 'Laalo'
Karan plays an auto rickshaw driver in the film. He shared how deeply he prepared for the role. “I went to Junagadh a week before the shoot,” he said. “I used to ride an auto rickshaw there.”
He also spoke about director
Ankit Sakhiya’s support. “I was given the freedom to choose the clothes and accessories for my character. Ankit told me to buy whatever I feel is right for the character.” Calling the film personal, he added, “More than professional, this film is personal.”
He ended with pride. “In the entirety of India, the four of us are representing Gujarati industry. What can be more blessed than this?”
Meanwhile, the Hindi version of 'Laalo' is competing with 'Dhurandhar' and 'The Raja Saab.'
