Rohit Shetty talks about language barrier in cinema; says, 'Population of 140 crores, yet just 3-4 crore people in theaters'
During a vibrant discussion at the INCA event, filmmaker Rohit Shetty pointed out that language barriers are thwarting Indian cinema's potential to captivate the country's diverse audience. He famously proclaimed, 'It’s one nation, one cinema, and one celebration,' urging the industry to come together.
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty recently attended an event of the Indian National Cine Academy in Mumbai. The director made several statements that made it to the headlines. During the event, he also talked about language barriers as one of the problems in Indian cinema. Let's take a look at what he has to say.

Rohit Shetty talks about language barriers in Indian cinema

Bollywood Hungama quoted Rohit Shetty saying, "I think it’s one nation, one cinema, and one celebration; that is, Indian cinema." The filmmaker further shared, "All our producers and directors would agree that the sad part about footfalls is that our country has a population of 140 crores. Yet, the biggest blockbuster will be seen by just 3 or 4 crore people in a theater. Not more than that. The reason behind this is the language barrier. The other reason can be that we don’t recognize those technicians."

Rohit Shetty didn't stop there and went on to say that he would like to say that an Odiya or Assamese director will "get recognition on a bigger and better platform, thanks to INCA. He’ll be able to show his talent to the whole world. I think it's high time that we all come together."
