Gujarati production house makes quirky, unusual films
Three friends, Yash Soni, Malhar Jani and Harshil Bhatt who are passionate about films decided to start a production house by the name of Kashew Media World and call themselves Kashewites too! This is one production house with a difference. Not only do they make films with unusual themes and storylines but they also make these films for their own interest. "When a story strikes we simply start making a film - where to showcase it and how to go about it once the film is made is something we think of later, once everything is done.
1x1 polls
We tend to showcase it and send it for film contests but those are always seconadry things," says Yash Soni. So far they have made a film called 'Alarm' (2013) which, through the Gujarati pronunciation of the word (allah-ram) sends across a message of unity in religion and caste. The film talks about how every morning begins with an alarm (allah-ram). Another film, 'Lemons Are Not Sour' (2013) are about a superstitious businessman who hangs lemons and chillies outside his shop to ward off evil but they seem to disappear. He finds out where they went and realizes that lemons are not sour indeed. With such zero to very small budget films, this amateur production house run by youngsters is all raring to go and make better and quirkier films.
