TV pays well, but you don’t get time to spend that money: Bhavin Bhanushali
I am a kalakar; that’s how I want to define myself,” smiles Bhavin Bhanushali, who has done Hindi TV shows like Tenali Rama and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar, and also Social Currency, a reality show. Bhavin, also a singer and lyricist, recently did two Gujarati films, Jalso-A Family Invitation and Vahali.
Talking about donning many hats, the actor, who was in Ahmedabad, says, “I find comfort in all of them and believe in doing everything with passion. Be it acting, writing lyrics, or singing, I want my work to be remembered and revisited even after 100 years.”
‘Will do television only if I get something extraordinary’
Is he open to doing more TV shows? The Tamanna actor says, “I will do it only if I get something extraordinary, a one-of-a-kind show or character. While working in television, you are bound by the same kind of character for the entire show. While it pays you well, you don’t get time to spend that money due to the hectic schedules. So, what is the point? Doing films has made me freer to explore different roles and mediums.”
And what about reality shows? He says, “Not right now. I have been approached by Bigg Boss makers for three years now, but I am not ready to take it up yet.”
‘Want to do light-hearted films before exploring complex roles’
Talking about his D-Town experience, he says, “It has already been a great start to my career in Gujarati films. In my first two films, I played a cute boy in love and I think I’ll continue doing light-hearted genres for one or two films before I actually showcase my potential as an actor here by exploring complex roles. I want to do good films and be the new face of this industry.”
Was it challenging to enter regional films as a lead? Bhavin shares, “Not at all. I am grateful that a few makers have approached me with scripts. But I want more makers to at least approach me without inhibitions about my alleged fees. Mujhe story achhi lagi toh main toh free mein bhi karunga (laughs)!”
'Will get married by the end of this year’
Bhavin, who announced his roka in November last year, says he is “in a happy space.” Talking about keeping the identity of his fiancée hidden, he says, “Early in my career, I would tag my family and friends in my social media posts, and fans used to stalk and spam them a lot. My fiancée is a very private person, and I am happy we are getting to spend time together away from the public eye.”
He adds, “I won’t disclose the date, but we will get married by the end of this year (smiles).”
Bhavin shares, "I have released only singles (music videos) till now. But in Shubh Saanjh, my next Gujarati film, I am also a singer and composer. I have sung three songs and wrote two of them."
The actor is also very active on social media. Is it something he is passionate about? He says, "On social media, change is the only constant. It is a medium that we have to be on, and it is sad, but it’s a reality that we might get work there. I make reels and videos for the sake of doing it, but mere andar ka actor is satisfied only while facing a big camera."
