Did you know: Before Ayesha Jhulka, this actress had shot as the female lead for 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'
Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, and Pooja Bedi-starrer 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar' is one of the most iconic Bollywood films of the '90s. Today, as the film turns 29, ETimes brings to you an exclusive piece of trivia from the film that we bet you didn't know.
Over the years, several members of the cast and crew have revealed how the Mansoor Khan film underwent several changes till it finally hit the screens in 1992. Many characters from the film got replaced. Even Ayesha Jhulka was not the first choice to play the female lead. The role was initially supposed to be played by South actress Girija Shettar. However, when she left the film midway to complete her prior commitments when 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar' was getting delayed for a long time, Ayesha was brought into the scene. But did you know that Girija is still a part of the movie? Yes, the actress can be seen in the song 'Are Yaaro Mere Pyaro' shaking a leg alongside Aamir Khan. "Since the song was shot with Girija, the makers of the film decided to keep the song featuring her instead of reshooting the entire song with Ayesha," reveals a source close to the film.
Deepak Tijori, who was also part of the film, confirmed, "Girija had done some outstanding films in the South when she joined 'JJWS'. However, she can be still seen in the song." Earlier, in an interview with ETimes, Deepak had also revealed how Milind Soman had shot for 75 per cent of the film as Shekhar Malhotra before Deepak took up the role.
