
South Indian breakfast dishes are simple, easy-to-make and light on the gut. And one such dish that can be made in a jiffy is Upma. 1 cup rava, 2 ½ cups water, 2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp urad dal, 8–10 curry leaves, 1 green chilli, 1 small onion, 1 carrot, 1/2 capsicum, ½ inch ginger, salt to taste, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and 2 tbsp coriander leaves

First of all, dry roast rava on low flame until aromatic. Once done, keep it aside.

Heat oil in the same pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add chana dal and urad dal; sauté till golden.

Now, add curry leaves, green chilli, ginger, carrot, capsicum, and onion. Sauté till onions turn soft.

Add water and add salt. Bring to a rolling boil and then add the roasted rava. Mix well.

Cover and cook on low flame for 2–3 minutes until water is absorbed.

Garnish with lemon juice and coriander leaves. Enjoy!
