5 roles of Sonam Kapoor that proved to be a game-changer for her career

Bollywood fashionista, Sonam Kapoor has turned a year older today, but then age is just a number of her. If anything is growing with the passing years, it’s her sheer acting excellence, with which she continues to entertain the audience. Though her debut movie couldn’t help her fetch the stature that she deserved, with time she gave some of the path-breaking films, that completely changed her image. So today, on her 34th birthday, let’s have a look at the top five roles of Sonam Kapoor that proved to be a game-changer for her career.

2/6

‘Raanjhanaa’

Released in 2013, ‘Raanjhanaa’ is one of the movies that defined Sonam Kapoor’s excellence in the field of acting. It was the first time that the actress went on to don a de-glam avatar as a school girl. In an interview she mentioned that it was Jaya Bachchan’s role in ‘Guddi’ from where she took inspiration. Further, the movie went on to win hearts and Sonam’s work was highly lauded by one and all.

3/6

‘Neerja’

Getting into the skin of a character is every actor’s job, but putting a real-life character on the reel is not a cake walk. Basically, doing a biopic is nothing short of a milestone in any actor’s life, and Sonam Kapoor achieved the same when in 2016 she was seen in and as ‘Neerja’. The movie was based on the real life of air hostess Neerja Bhanot, who with her calm, courage and intellect saved many lives in the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan, 1986. Sonam’s work was so flawless in the movie that it helped her fetch national award.

4/6

‘Pad Man’

Sometimes an actor takes the maximum screen time in the movie, yet fails to hook the audience, and sometimes an actor shows up only for a limited time frame and leaves a mark on the viewers. Sonam Kapoor falls in the second category and proof of the same is her movie ‘Pad Man’. Essaying the role of a management student, who wanted to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, Sonam Kapoor won hearts in the Akshay Kumar starrer. She had limited screen time, but she made the most out of it.

5/6

‘Veere Di Wedding’

Portraying the bond of four girl-pals, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ was a slice of life movie. In the movie, Sonam Kapoor was seen as a strong headed woman, who irrespective of family or social pressure continues to do what her heart and mind says. She brought an image of a strong 21st-century woman on the screen, for whom the bar of her dignity is way higher than the fake standards of the society.

6/6

‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’

Though in the 21st century, we do talk a lot about homosexuality and the rights of homosexuals, we still fail to connect with the same on a personal level. But when the makers of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ reached Sonam Kapoor for essaying the lead role as a homosexual, the diva was ready to break the stereotype. In this movie, for the first time the real-life father-daughter, Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor shared the screen as reel life father-daughter. In the movie, Sonam played the character of a lesbian who struggles with her real personality, but later wins the fight over her own inner demons, her family and society.

Is this a paid article? Else what is so great about this woman’s mediocre acting? She is ordinary beyond imagination. And he brainlessness has ample proof on Twitter.
