Dhar studied at Guru Harkrishnan Public School in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, before graduating from Hindu College, University of Delhi. During his college years, he remained involved in theater and worked with groups such as the Delhi Music Theatre. His elder brother, Lokesh Dhar, worked as a studio executive at UTV Motion Pictures and later Fox Star Studios. The two brothers later co-founded B62 Studios in 2021.

From 'Uri' to 'Dhurandhar'

Aditya Dhar moved to Mumbai in 2006 and began his career as an assistant director. He also wrote lyrics for songs composed by Raghav Sachar in 'Kabul Express' and worked on 'Haal-e-Dil' and 'Daddy Cool'.
He later contributed dialogues to Priyadarshan’s films 'Aakrosh' and 'Tezz'.
