Alia Bhatt’s ‘Sadak 2’ to Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Dostana 2’: Sequels to look forward to in 2020

The year 2020 will see the arrival of many movies, most of the sequels. The remakes, reboots, and sequels trend has been dominating the movie industry for a while now. We've rounded up every sequel Bollywood is gifting us with this year and there's a lot to get excited about.

After delivering a hit in 1991 with Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt starrer ‘Sadak’, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has taken over reins of direction once again for the much-awaited sequel of the movie. Apart from the original cast of Pooja and Dutt, ‘Sadak 2’ will star a fresh pairing of Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur.

The plot picks up from the original, with Sanjay’s Ravi battling with depression and assisting a young girl Alia to expose a fake Godman. The film also features Gulshan Grover and Makrand Deshpande in pivotal roles.

After the super success of Tarun Mansukhani’s ‘Dostana’ starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra, the makers are all set with the sequel of the most loved film. The sequel is being directed by Collin D’Cunha and is being produced by Karan Johar.

‘Dostana 2’ stars Kartik Aaryan, Lakshya Lalwani and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The lead cast shot for a sequence recently in Amritsar.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan impressed one and all with his horror-comedy psychological thriller ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. The movie starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja in the lead roles.

Now, that the makers have come up with the much-awaited sequel which is being directed by Anees Bazmee. It sees Kartik Aaryan stepping into the shoes of Akshay Kumar along with Kiara Advani. However, the makers have confirmed that the movie won’t be the continuation of the original part and would have an altogether different plotline. They went ahead with the same name as the original to show establish their franchise.

Irrfan Khan’s ‘Hindi Medium’ had won the hearts of the audience and the critics when it released. Now, after three years, the makers are all set with the much-awaited sequel to the hit film. The second instalment of the movie is titled, ‘Angrezi Medium’.

Apart from the original cast of Irrfan Khan, the movie will also star Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Madan in the lead roles. The film is being directed by Homi Adjania. The new film, which focuses on foreign education, was shot in Rajasthan and London.

After giving us two dance-based films – ‘ABCD’ and ‘ABCD 2’, Remo D’Souza is all set with the next instalment in the franchise. ‘Street Dancer 3D’ stars Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi in the lead. The trailer and the chartbuster songs have already created quite a buzz for the film.

Earlier, Katrina Kaif was approached to star opposite Varun Dhawan in the film. However, due to her work commitments at the time, Katrina backed out of the movie. Shraddha then filled in for the actress.

After bringing the issue of Erectile Dysfunction amongst men in his film, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, Aanand L Rai is all set to bring out its sequel. In the second instalment of the film, the makers are set to bring awareness about homosexuality to mainstream cinema.

The movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. Along with the actor, Jitendra Kumar will be seen playing a pivotal role. Apart from them, the movie also features Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao in key roles.

Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi’ series have been one of the most loved and successful franchises we have in Bollywood. After the super success of ‘Baaghi’ and ‘Baaghi 2’ the makers are working on ‘Baaghi 3’. The third part will star Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.

The makers recently revealed that Disha Patani, who was part of ‘Baaghi 2’ will also be part of the third part. She will be seen playing a pivotal role in the movie.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone was one of the most loved films in Bollywood. The movie is all set to receive a sequel. The second part stars fresh pair Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in the movie.

Kartik and Sara will be seen sharing the screen space for the first time in the movie. Although the name of the film has not been officially announced, it has been tentatively named as, ‘Aaj Kal’. Kartik and Sara have completed the shooting of the movie.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan’s ‘Hungama’ starring Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen and Aftab Shivdasani is still one of the most loved films amongst the movie buffs. The romantic-comedy film is now getting a sequel.

The sequel will star Meezaan Jaffery, Pranitha Subhash, Paresh Rawal and Shilpa Shetty Kundra in the lead roles. The first look poster of the movie has raised excitement levels of the fans.
