Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure. Soon after the news broke, Amitabh Bachchan visited her residence to pay his last respects. A day later, the megastar shared a deeply emotional note on his blog, expressing what he described as “immense grief” over the loss of an icon whose voice defined generations.

In his heartfelt tribute, Amitabh Bachchan repeatedly reflected on the depth of his sorrow. “Sorrow and grief... An entire era... an incredible... a phenomenal, astounding, prodigious presence... lost yesterday... the iconic, legendary Asha Bhosle ji has left us...” he wrote, capturing the magnitude of the void her passing has created.




Bachchan further added, “In immense grief... Her versatility in giving life to every song she gave voice to... gone to the heavens... and has left us an entire encyclopedia of eternal music... The body has left us... but her soul shall remain forever with us... Her voice, the soul, shall ever be immortalised... In immense grief,” highlighting the timeless nature of her artistry.

Following her passing, Asha Bhosle’s mortal remains were brought to her Lower Parel residence, where admirers gathered to pay their respects between 11 am and 3 pm. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to attend her funeral at Shivaji Park, where she will be cremated with full state honours.

Several prominent personalities, including Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar, Tabu, Asha Parekh and Anuradha Paudwal, were seen arriving to offer their condolences.

Over an illustrious career, Asha Bhosle earned numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards, the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. Her iconic songs such as ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja’, ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ and ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ continue to define the golden era of Indian music, ensuring her legacy lives on forever.
