Euphorias generated a lot of Dhoom among music lovers, especially the campus crowd, but now, theyre all set to rock. After 14 years, the band is bringing out a hardcore English rock number. Frontman Palash Sen says that thats what the band started with, but shifted to Hindi numbers when they became popular. The number is for a campus rock competition, he says.
Its been written, composed and sung by me and has been performed by the band. It is an English hard rock song called Medi Sin Man. You could say that were going back to where we started from.
He says that this is their first foray into rock in many years. Each of our albums has had an English song, but this will be our first rock song. When we started off, we only played hard rock. We had a collection of 35-40 rock songs, says Palash. He believes that the quality of bands especially rock bands on campus and otherwise, has improved tremendously. When we started, we were not exposed to technology and rock music like these guys are today. They have a whole world of music open to them and the talent in the rock genre is immense, he says. But I think we will have to look inwards as well, at indigenous rock. We have got commercial success because we blended rock and our own Indian music, he says.
