Anushka Sen reveals how travel shapes her life; talks about visiting 29 countries

Known for shows like Baalveer, Jhansi Ki Rani, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, Anushka Sen is also an avid traveler. Speaking about her love for travel, she says, “Yes, I do travel a lot for work and leisure. I travel solo and sometimes with my parents. We have travelled to around 29 countries. We are a mix of spontaneous and planned itinerary travellers.” She adds that her travel choices are often inspired by recommendations, films, and local discoveries. “Because I am an actress, I enjoy finding unique locations or dishes I may have seen in my favourite movie… Sometimes I have even landed and asked locals which spots are unique. I also ask for restaurant recommendations to experience their local cuisine.”

Anushka is currently promoting NowYouKnow (NYK), a social-circle–based recommendations platform founded by siblings Krishna and Pia Shivdasani. The app replaces anonymous reviews with trusted recommendations from friends, covering restaurants, cafés, hotels, bars, and hidden local favorites. Explaining why the platform excites her, Anushka says, “I love sharing my recommendations and moments that I have experienced with my fans… but it has never been so specific to the location, to the coordinates, that you can actually go to the exact same restaurant, stay at the exact same hotel, and experience the same itinerary that I have experienced.” She adds, “I am just super excited for people to use the app and build a beautiful community.”




Reflecting on what her saved places would reveal about her, she shares, “When I go to places like Tanzania, these places are super unique… You are surrounded by nature and animals… you can see the Milky Way.” Travel, she says, allows her to introspect and reconnect with herself. “Every country I have visited and every city I have been in has had an impact on me. I feel more connected to myself.” Anushka believes these experiences influence her craft as well: “Every single trip I have taken has shaped the person I am… I connect it and channel it when I portray a certain character.”
