When and where to watch 'Assi' on OTT
Assi will be available to stream on ZEE5 starting April 17, 2026. The film is written by Gaurav Solanki and Anubhav Sinha and produced by
Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha. Now, those who missed watching the film in theaters can enjoy it from the comfort of their homes.
More about 'Assi'
'Assi' tells the story of Parima, a school teacher in Delhi who is gang-raped by five men. The film follows her painful fight for justice, led by lawyer Raavi, played by Taapsee Pannu, against a deeply flawed legal and social system.
The narrative takes a gripping turn with the emergence of a vigilante murderer, while unflinchingly exploring themes of patriarchy, victim-blaming, societal apathy, and the long-term trauma of sexual assault.
The film also stars Kani Kusruti as Parima, Revathy as Vasudha, Manoj Pahwa as Deepraj, Kumud Mishra as Kartik, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Vinay, and Satyajit Sharma as the opposition lawyer. The movie was released in theaters on February 12, 2026.
It clashed at the box office with Mrunal Thakur and Siddhant Chaturvedi's 'Do Deewane Seher Mein'.
The Anubhav Sinha directorial failed to pull the audience to theaters.
Worth watching?
'Assi' is not a light watch, nor is it meant to be. It is the kind of film that holds a mirror to society and refuses to look away. With Anubhav Sinha, the director behind socially charged films like 'Thappad' and 'Article 15', at the helm, and Taapsee Pannu delivering what critics have called a career-defining performance, 'Assi' is one of the most important Indian films of 2026.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
