Late actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik was loved for his magnificent talent. Apart from acting he also explored direction and storytelling. One of his most ambitious projects was 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja'. Released in 1993 the film was mounted on a grand scale. Despite the scale and expectations, the film failed at the box office.

Satish Kaushik's emotional phase after failure

During an early appearance on 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai,' Satish Kaushik spoke about his experience as the film’s director. He revealed that he could not gather the courage to ask about the film’s performance. At the same time, Boney Kapoor shared how deeply the failure had affected him. "He was willing to jump off a moving car. When we reached the hotel, he was ready to jump from the first floor."

Satish Kaushik gives it a funny twist

Satish Kaushik later narrated the same incident from his own perspective. He explained what stopped him in that difficult moment. Giving it a humorous twist, he said, "We were on the first floor, and on the ground floor, the food had been served. So, I thought if I jumped and end up landing on the food, people might assume that I jumped for the food. They will not even take my suicide seriously."

Big film, bigger expectations for 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja'

The film featured Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in lead roles. With a strong cast and high production values, expectations were extremely high. However, the film did not connect with audiences upon release. It struggled commercially despite its scale and star power.The screenplay was written by Javed Akhtar. The supporting cast included Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever, and Jackie Shroff. The film released on April 16, 1993. Despite the anticipation, it was a major box office disappointment. Satish Kaushik later passed away on March 9, 2023, in Gurugram following a heart attack. He was 66 years old.
