Bajirao Mastani

The heroic Peshwa Bajirao, while being married to the dutiful Kashibai, falls in love with warrior princess Mastani. Even as his conservative family opposes the union, Bajirao and Mastani vow to cross many hurdles in order to make their love triumph. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed musical turned out to rake an almost double century at the BO.

Dangal

Based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, the movie, directed by Nitesh Tiwari starred Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles. The biographical sports drama, charting the struggles of Mahavir Singh and his sincere efforts to help his daughters Geeta and Babita win a gold medal for the country boasted of some stellar performances and went on to become the biggest hit of the year, minting close to 400 crores at the BO.

Tiger Zinda Hai

In this sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, Raw Agent Tiger is back as he pairs up with his wife, an ISI agent Zoya, to rescue some nurses who are being held captive by a terrorist organisation. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie turned out to be a cult classic with high octane action sequences, edge-of-the-seat thrill and some foot tapping numbers. Despite mixed reviews, the movie raked in almost 300 crores at the BO.

Simmba

A classic tale of corrupt and street smart cop going through a change of heart and mending his ways, this Rohit Shetty directed movie had all the trappings of a commercial potboiler - gravity defying action sequences, romantic numbers and some rib tickling comedy. The movie, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

Good Newwz

A comedy of errors, this one was the hilarious story of two contrasting couples, who are forced to coexist after a botched up medical procedure results in swapped pregnancies of the wives. A rib-tickling comedy-drama starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, this Raj Mehta directed flick was lapped up by the audience and raked in a double century at the BO.
