Suryakumar Yadav brought some fun ahead of Mumbai Indians' IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday by recreating
Akshaye Khanna’s viral step from ‘Dhurandhar’. This comes after MI's recent win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Suryakumar Yadav's viral video on ‘FA9LA’
MI's official Instagram page dropped a video of Suryakumar with the caption, “Ye Dada ka style hai, full Dhurandhar mode (This is dada’s style).” As Flipperachi’s FA9LA pumps through the speakers, the star batter steps onto the stage. He nails Akshaye’s iconic moves from the film amid cheers from the crowd. After a brief stroll, Suryakumar can't resist and busts out more dance steps.
The Indian cricketer isn't new to geeking out over Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ movies. Not long ago, while MI co-owner Nita Ambani was raving about Jasprit Bumrah's bowling magic, Suryakumar cheekily ribbed him: “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi, Jassi? (Didn’t you miss home, Jassi?),” echoing a character's quip to Ranveer Singh in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Laughter erupted all around, amplified by the fact that Bumrah’s wife, presenter Sanjana Ganesan, had just dropped the same line on him.
About ‘Dhurandhar’ films
‘Dhurandhar’ and its sequel ‘Dhurandhar 2’ come from writer-director-producer Aditya Dhar, teamed up with Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios and Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios. Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor, the movies center on Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi, alias Hamza Ali Mazari (Ranveer), embedding himself in a Baloch gang amid Pakistan’s Lyari underworld.
Dhurandhar's box office success
The first ‘Dhurandhar’ stormed theaters in December 2025, grossing more than Rs 1300 crore worldwide. Its follow-up, out since March 19 in Hindi and South Indian languages, has already topped Rs 1500 crore globally. Facing mixed critiques, including 'propaganda' jabs, it still won massive audience affection and delivered blockbuster box office results.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ rankings
‘Dhurandhar 2’ ranks as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film ever, trailing only Aamir Khan’s 2016 blockbuster ‘Dangal’, and stands as India’s fourth-top earner behind ‘Dangal’, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. Whether it claims the top spot by the end of its theatrical run is yet to be seen.
