‘Dhurandhar’

Ranveer Singh's new spy movie got people talking when Major Mohit Sharma's family claimed it was based on the officer's life and top-secret missions, all without their okay. The Delhi High Court wanted the CBFC to look at the complaints again. After that, the movie got the green light, with the CBFC saying it's totally made up. Also, Chaudhary Aslam’s widow, the wife of a Pakistani police officer, might sue because of how he's shown in the movie.

‘Padmaavat’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s big movie, which was called Padmavati before, got a lot of angry protests and legal problems. Some Rajput groups said it twisted history and made Queen Padmavati look bad. There were even some violent protests and demands that the movie be banned in a bunch of places. So, they changed the name to Padmaavat to show it was based on a made-up poem. The people who made the movie went to the Supreme Court, and the court said the states couldn't ban it, so it could be shown everywhere.

‘Jolly LL B 2’

This Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi movie had some legal issues. A lawyer said the name and the courtroom scenes trashed the Indian legal system. The Bombay High Court had a group check out the film, and it even went to the Supreme Court. According to India Today, also, there was a sneering mention of Bata in the trailer that made them sue for Rs 30 million, so they had to change the scene.

4/6

‘Udta Punjab’

The intense drama about Punjab's drug problem had a tough time with the CBFC, who wanted lots of scenes cut. The filmmakers fought back, and the Bombay High Court sided with them. The movie got to come out with only one scene removed and an 'A' rating.

5/6

‘Black Friday’

Anurag Kashyap’s gripping account of the 1993 Mumbai blasts was banned for nearly three years due to the legal trial related to the incident. Only after the Supreme Court delivered its verdict was the film cleared for release.

6/6

‘Bandit Queen’

The celebrated movie depicting Phoolan Devi's troubled life by Shekhar Kapur was subject to being banned at the time of its release because of its graphic nature regarding violence and sexual abuse. Despite the numerous legal challenges it faced, it was ultimately released and received a great deal of positive acclaim from around the world.
