Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh team up for Imtiaz Ali’s next, release date announced

Imtiaz Ali’s next project will bring together Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari on screen for the very first time. Though the film’s title remains under wraps, it’s confirmed to arrive in cinemas on June 12, 2026.

Imtiaz Ali announces release date

Announcing his next project, Imtiaz posted a photo of himself on Instagram along with the film’s release date. The filmmaker refrained from revealing the title but shared a caption that read, “Imtiaz Ali’s next, a charming story of love and longing to release in cinemas on 12th June, 2026. Applause Entertainment Presents, A Window Seat Films Production. Starring: Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, Naseeruddin Shah Directed by Imtiaz Ali Music by A.R. Sharvari’s heartfelt reaction to the announcement

The film was officially announced in June 2025, marking an exciting moment for the cast and fans alike. Reacting to the news, Sharvari took to her social media handle to share her joy and gratitude. “What an incredible surprise to see this announcement happen on my birthday. Best birthday ever! Imtiaz Ali, Sir, I have manifested to be directed by you ever since I have dreamed of being an actor." She continued, “This will be the most amazing learning experience for me. Story set against the backdrop of partition

According to Mid-Day, the film is set in Punjab and follows a young couple whose lives are torn apart in the wake of Partition. Set in the 1940s, the movie looks at Partition and its after-effects from the lens of two lovers. While Sharvari plays the young female lead opposite Vedang, Imtiaz is in talks with two more leading ladies for other prominent roles as the film revolves around different generations of families.

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah joins the team
