Farah Khan says she started Youtube to fund the education of her kids: 'Even when my movie was not happening'
Choreographer turned director Farah Khan has also become a Youtuber now. She has her own channel and her show with her cook Dilip is quite popular. Infact, it has made Dilip into a star now and he's the internet's favourite. Just as Farah appeared on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna's talk show 'Two Much', with Ananya Panday, she has revealed why she joined the digital world, how her relationship with her work has changed and what truly makes her happy today.
Farah revealed that she launched her YouTube channel during a phase when she didn’t have any films lined up. Along with curiosity, there was also a practical reason behind it, which is her children’s education. “Even when my movie was not happening, when I wasn’t directing, I said chal, let me do YouTube. Also, I have 3 kids who will go to university next year, and that’s bloody expensive,” she said with a laugh. “So I just said for a change, let me start a show on YouTube, and that just clicked.”
Talking about her current mindset, Farah said she’s in a space where she draws happiness from within rather than relying on external validation. “Your life can’t revolve around another person. I feel happiness has to come from within and from your work,” she shared. “Work actually gives me a lot of pleasure. Also, I feel that for me, I can work till I’m 80 because my work doesn’t depend on either my looks or, clearly, not my body, ever,” she joked.
During the episode, Farah also recalled an incident when a director hit on her and she kicked him out. "You know how hot I was, Twinkle. You know the director who tried to hit on me when we were shooting? He came into my room to discuss a song while I was in bed and sat next to me. I had to kick him from there,” she revealed. Twinkle burst into laughter and confirmed the story, adding, “He was after her no matter what. She’s physically kicked him. This happened, I was a witness!”
