From Ranveer Singh to Randeep Hooda: Bollywood stars who were gifted handwritten letters by Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan is regarded as a living legend of Indian cinema. Over the years, he has built a heartfelt tradition of sending flowers and handwritten notes to actors whose performances deeply move him. For many in the industry, these letters are more precious than any trophy. They represent validation from the “Shahenshah” himself and serve as inspiration across generations of artists.

Deepika Padukone, who played Queen Padmavati in Padmaavat, also received Bachchan’s classic token of admiration. She had earlier worked with him in Piku.

She had previously received a similar letter for Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.

Siddhant Chaturvedi made a powerful debut as MC Sher in Gully Boy. His performance earned him widespread acclaim, including a bouquet and handwritten note from Amitabh Bachchan.

Sharing a picture with the flowers and letter, Siddhant wrote: “@amitabhbachchan सादर प्रणाम, आपका उपहार और आशीर्वाद मिला जो मेरे लिए अकल्पनीय है। इस ख़ुशी की व्याख्या मैं शब्दों में नहीं कर सकता। ये मेरे लिए सौभाग्य और गर्व का पल है, और अब बस आपके चरण स्पर्श की कामना करता हूँ।”

Ranveer Singh’s intense portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat impressed the megastar. Along with flowers, he received a handwritten note of appreciation.

Ranveer shared a close-up of the letter and captioned it: “Mujhe mera award mil gaya...������ @amitabhbachchan” For him, the note felt like the ultimate award.

For her dual role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Kangana Ranaut received two separate bouquets and letters — one for Tanu and one for Datto.

She later revealed that the Hindi poem written by Bachchan felt like a medal for her parents and said she would frame the letters and preserve them for life.

Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his unconventional film choices, received praise from Amitabh Bachchan for his performance in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The veteran actor appreciated his accent and subtle expressions.

Ayushmann shared the letter and wrote: “Will cherish this for life. Hail Bachchan Saab.”

Rajkummar Rao, celebrated for films like Newton, Aligarh and CityLights, also experienced the joy of receiving a handwritten note.

Sharing a photo, he wrote: “When the legend sends you this handwritten note.. Thank you my dearest @SrBachchan sir. You've made my day. Much regards & charan sparsh ������”

In a touching gesture beyond cinema, Amitabh Bachchan sent a letter of encouragement to Emraan Hashmi’s son Ayaan during his battle with cancer.

Emraan shared the note and wrote: “Ayaan aspires to be Batman. And Batman aspires to be you. U r d original superhero!”

Sushant Singh Rajput received appreciation from Bachchan for his performance in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story.

Posting a picture of the flowers, he wrote: “Thank you @SrBachchan sir for your encouraging words. I am extremely glad you liked the performance.”

Director Farah Khan once jokingly expressed her wish to receive a handwritten letter after seeing one at a friend’s home. To her surprise, Amitabh Bachchan sent her a note at 3:30 am.

Nimrat Kaur received appreciation for her performance in Dasvi. Overwhelmed by the gesture, she penned an emotional note in Hindi expressing gratitude and describing the moment as deeply inspiring. She compared the feeling of receiving his praise to standing before a majestic temple.

Randeep Hooda’s transformative performance in Sarbjit also earned recognition from Amitabh Bachchan. The film’s official handle shared the moment, writing: “That proud moment when @SrBachchan writes a letter to our very own #Sarbjit, @RandeepHooda. ��”
