Jaya Bachchan is all over the news after she supported Bollywood in her parliamentary speech against the people trying to tarnish the image of the film industry in the ongoing drug row. This is not the first time the veteran actress has grabbed headlines for her bold statements.

Shah Rukh Khan had reportedly commented against Jaya Bachchan’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai back in 2008 at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party. The same had also caused his fight against Salman Khan. Reacting on his remarks in an interview with a news portal, Jaya had reportedly said that she obviously holds it against him and she never got the opportunity to discuss the same with him. She also stated that if SRK would have been at her home, she would have slapped him, just like her own son. However, she has connected with him in her soul and that eases everything.

Farah Khan’s multi-starrer ‘Happy New Year’ received mixed reactions from the audience and the critics alike. The film also starred Abhishek Bachchan in a key role. When asked Jaya Bachchan if she liked the film, she slammed it and called it a “nonsensical” film.

Apart from Abhishek, the film also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani and others in lead roles.

Reports linking Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha made rounds for a long time. Reacting to those rumours and reports, Jaya Bachchan said on Simi Garewal’s chat show that it was very cheap. According to her, it would be a pity if she starts questioning her husband. She also added that she had started reacting a little to the press because her son is involved and her daughter is grown up. She confessed that she tends to get a bit upset when they write things, but sometimes, she is sorry but she wouldn't mind resorting to 'Dharmendra' tactics.

Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan are one of the most loved and respected couples we have in Bollywood. On Simi Garewal’s chat show, Jaya opened up about her first meeting with the megastar. She revealed that she got frightened because according to her, he would have been the only one who could dictate things to her and she would allow him to do that. She stated that he would say and she would ideally do it. She would want to please him, something that doesn't come to her very naturally.

During the music launch of ‘Drona’ that starred Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra, Jaya Bachchan had said that she would speak in Hindi as she is from Uttar Pradesh. Her comment received flak from none other than the Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray-led MNS party.

However, she later apologised and said that her remark about choosing to speak in Hindi at the music launch of a Hindi film was said innocently. She added that she would never malign the city that has given them everything. She stated that she will not show disrespect to this city until the day of her death.
