'I was never paid': Farah Khan recalls doing kiss scene with Deepak Tijori in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar after actress refused
Farah Khan recently visited singer Shaan’s home, and their casual meet turned into a nostalgic trip. They reminisced about their early days in Bollywood, recalling moments from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, which became a turning point in both their careers.
First film memories
While chatting, Farah smiled and said, “The first movie Shaan ever did was Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar." Shaan laughed, “Yes, I was there with a saxophone!" Farah added with a smile, “And I was a junior dancer there."
Behind the scenes
Farah explained, “I actually joined as an assistant director. Then, when they ran short of dancers, I started helping with choreography — and whenever a dancer didn’t show up, they’d put me in front of the camera. There’s even a scene where Deepak Tijori kisses my cheek — the girl who was supposed to do it refused, so they sent me instead!"
Shaan’s brief role
Shaan recalled, “I worked on the film for four days but was barely visible in the final cut. After shooting for four long days, I appeared only in a passing shot in a medley of songs." Farah laughed and added, “I think it was a Jatin song — I was choreographing it. The makers were so broke that they even threw Jatin into the song!"
The chat turned even more nostalgic when Shaan revealed his pay for the film. “I got Rs 150 per day for four days, while the others received Rs 75," he said. Farah, amused, gasped, “You got paid? I was never paid!" She added warmly, “But honestly, what that film gave me was far more valuable than any cheque — it changed my life."
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar also starred Aamir Khan, Pooja Bedi, Ayesha Jhulka, Mamik Singh and others.
