The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued an industry-wide non-cooperation directive against the actor, triggering a wave of outrage among his fans and igniting a fierce debate about industry politics, nepotism, and whether such a ban can derail a star's career in Bollywood.

Fans allege a larger conspiracy against Ranveer Singh

The backlash against FWICE was swift and vocal. Barely hours after the film body held a press conference announcing the non-cooperation directive, Ranveer Singh's supporters flooded X (formerly Twitter) with angry posts defending the 'Dhurandhar' actor.





Many questioned why Singh was being singled out. "What is this…It's not the first time actors are cutting themselves from the next projects. What's the real problem? What do you think... is it the success of his film Dhurandhar The Revenge?" wrote one fan. Another asked, "Is Ranveer Singh the first actor to leave a film in Bollywood?"

Others went further, alleging a coordinated effort to bring the actor down. "Some big names from Bollywood are still upset with the content and success of Dhurandhar," claimed one user. A separate fan added, "The entire Bollywood is envious of Ranveer Singh. Slap these bullies with another blockbuster and huge success."

The actor's non-nepo status also became a talking point. One user wrote, "After Dhurandhar, it feels like they're out to get him. Is Ranveer really the first actor to abruptly walk out of a film?"

Farhan Akhtar also draws fan anger

Some supporters turned their fire directly on 'Don 3' director Farhan Akhtar, claiming it was the filmmaker who kept Ranveer Singh waiting while being occupied with his own project, 120 Bahadur. One user wrote, "It takes guts to behave like a cry baby when God's hand and audience love is so clearly with @RanveerOfficial. Crab mentality on such blatant display by the entire film industry. And here I thought they were professional actors. Shame on @FarOutAkhtar."

What does the FWICE ban actually mean?

Despite the alarm it has triggered, the FWICE directive is not a government-imposed legal ban. It is an industry-wide non-cooperation notice, meaning affiliated crew members and workers are urged not to collaborate with Ranveer Singh on shoots or productions. While this can meaningfully disrupt ongoing and future projects given how dependent Bollywood filmmaking is on these workers, it does not legally bar the actor from signing or appearing in films.

However, according to reports by News24, Ranveer Singh will be unable to shoot or produce new films in India until a resolution is reached between him and the producers of 'Don 3', making an early settlement crucial for all parties involved.

Ranveer Singh's team breaks silence

Amidst the noise, Ranveer Singh's spokesperson issued a measured statement, making clear that the actor intends to stay above the fray. The statement read: "Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect."

It further added: "While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead."
