Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has stepped into the shoes of a cricketer in his latest. The film titled ‘Jersey’ is an official Hindi remake of the Telugu film, ‘Jersey’. Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the story revolves around a talented but failed cricketer who aspires to make a comeback in the field, represent the Indian cricket team and fulfill his son's wish for a jersey as a gift. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in pivotal roles.

Former Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has truly been an inspiration for molding the game of cricket. He brought home the Cricket World Cup in 2011. His life story was turned into a biopic titled MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Sushant Singh Rajput stepped into his shows and portrayed his life with finesse and perfection bringing one closer to the deeper elements of Dhoni’s life journey.

While Taapsee steps into Mithali Raj’s shoes, Anushka Sharma will be stepping into the shoes of the former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, Jhulan Goswami. The movie will revolve around Jhulan who battles all odds, despite the problems created by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.

While Jersey is a fictional story, Kabir Khan’s ’83 allowed one to travel back in time to the 80s, when Indians were just falling in love with cricket. The movie portrays Ranveer Singh essaying the role of Kapil Dev who brought the Cricket World Cup home along with his team in 1983. It was then that the Lord's cricket ground witnessed 11 men beat the world champions West Indies, putting India firmly onto the cricket world stage.

Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu will be honoring the journey of cricketer Mithali Raj, who is currently the Test and ODI captain of the India's women's national cricket team. The biographical drama chronicles the struggles and moments of glory of Mithali’s life and how women’s cricket came into prominence. The film is yet to get a release date.
