Karan Johar feels his career PEAKED when he was just 28 years old; says, 'I still don’t think I have gone beyond this'

Hindi filmmaker Karan Johar recently talked about directing Amitabh Bachchan and collaborating with the late Lata Mangeshkar for his 2001 film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. The director, who was just 28 years old at that time, shared how it was the peak of his career. Let's take a look at what he has to say.During a conversation on Manyavar's YouTube channel, Karan Johar called his experience working with Amitabh Bachchan and Lata Mangeshkar surreal. He said, "There were kind of two times that happened to me, on separate occasions. One was when I directed Mr. Bachchan for the first time. And the other was when Lata ji sang. Both of these happened on my second feature film. I was 28 years old, and I was like, Man! This is my entire childhood unraveling in front of me." The filmmaker didn't stop there, as he further said, "I was like, how can I, how can I go beyond this? And I still don’t think I have. You know, I think I peaked. Like, this could be your peak. I think I peaked at 28."In the same conversation, Karan Johar shared that when Lata Mangeshkar was singing the title track at the recording studio, he was sitting at the console and "weeping." The director shared that he cried because he always admired the legendary singer and was obsessed with her.Talking about Amitabh Bachchan, the filmmaker said that he touches Big B's feet whenever he meets him. He said, "So I'm like, 'I can't believe I'm directing him.' I felt sick the day I was directing him because I was so stressed. And how do you tell Amitabh Bachchan what to do? Like, you should just say, 'Sir, just do what you do. Who am I to say?'"Directed by KJo, the film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, and Kareena Kapoor.
