Although both Shahid and Kareena avoided talking about it at the time, Shahid recently reacted to the incident in an interview with Mid-Day. He said that it was quite difficult for him to handle what had happened. According to him, he was newly in a relationship and was still figuring things out. The actor further added that he was caught off-guard at that point of time but now, after his marriage and kids, he feels that no one is interested in such things anymore.

The actress also reported the matter to the police. She told TOI in a 2013 interview, "It is just completely appalling and disgraceful that someone on the web can go to the extent of morphing my face onto someone else’s body to create a sensational video! We have filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Cell and are hoping to find the culprit. People need to realise that before being actors, we’re respectable women and have family and friends who we are answerable to and who get affected by negativity that is thrown in our direction."
