One of the protesting
Karni Sena factions said on Friday they would now support
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’, claiming it depicted “beautifully the courage of Rajputs”.
A letter signed by Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena vicepresident Yogendrasingh Katar, declaring the end of protest and support for the film’s release in Rajasthan, Gujarat and MP, has been handed over to Bhansali’s production house.
Katar told TOI they saw the movie on Friday, on the invitation of the production house. “We do not find anything defamatory in it,” he added. The faction had earlier threatened road blocks and a ‘rail roko’ agitation if the film released.
Another faction,
Shree Rajput Karni Sena, said they had not seen the film and would continue protests.
