Amid rising concerns over digital misuse of celebrity identities,
Kartik Aaryan has filed an intellectual property (IP) suit before the Bombay High Court, alleging unauthorised commercial use of his personality across online platforms.
According to India Today, the plea names multiple Indian and international e-commerce and social media platforms, along with unidentified “John Doe” individuals, accusing them of exploiting his name, image, and likeness without consent.
According to the filing, the actor’s identity is being used on merchandise, advertisements, and other digital content, infringing upon his publicity and privacy rights. Kartik has sought a permanent injunction restraining the defendants from using his photos, videos, voice, or any personal attributes for commercial purposes — including content generated through AI tools and deepfakes.
He has also requested that such content be taken down and that authorities direct platforms to disclose the identities of those responsible. The matter is scheduled for hearing on April 9, when senior advocate Birendra Saraf is expected to press for urgent relief.
On the work front, Kartik was last seen in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, directed by Sameer Vidwans, alongside Ananya Panday, Jackie Shroff, and Neena Gupta.
He will next be seen in Naagzilla, helmed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, where he is reportedly playing an ichadhari naag. The film is backed by Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain.
The actor is also set to feature in Anurag Basu’s next alongside Sreeleela, expected to release later this year.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
