Madhuri Dixit reveals how Sooraj Barjatya pitched ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’: ‘I had a narration of around 3.5 hours’
Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' is one of the most loved films. Released in 1994, the family drama became a cultural moment. Salman Khan played the gentle and charming Prem. Madhuri Dixit brought the character of Nisha to life with warmth, joy, and quiet grace. Recently, during an interview, Madhuri Dixit Nene looked back at the film and revealed how director Sooraj Barjatya had narrated the story for over three hours
Dixit also shared thet there was one song which was no recorede he even sang that song for us, “so he sang for us , I was just like, I want to do this movie as it’s heartwarming, positive, all about grace and elegance, tradition, relationships, and the value of our culture is so steeped in that.”
In the same interview, she shared onces the shooting began, the entire cast felt one big family, in her words, “It’s not about the story; it’s more about interpersonal relationships. When we started shooting, it was like a family of 12 of us”.
Dixit foundly recalled women meeting her on outdoor shoots and the reaction was pure affection. She said, “I remember I was shooting somewhere in the North, and there were these Punjabi ladies who had come to see me. They looked at me, came and started pinching my cheeks and were like, ‘Kinni soni hai humari Nisha,’ and I was like, oh my God. So for them, I was like a house member.”

How Sooraj Barjatya’s narration won her heart
Speaking to Mid Day's Sit With Hitlist, Dixit recalled that Sooraj Barjatya’s narration itself felt like a full experience. She shared, “He is amazing and such a good narrator. So he was doing every part, playing every person, every character, and all the songs were recorded. When Nisha became a household name
Madhuri Dixit admitted that no actor can ever predict a film’s impact. However, 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' changed everything for her. She shared, “I became like a household member of everybody’s house. Whether it was a daughter, girlfriend, or daughter-in-law, everyone thought of Nisha.”Dixit foundly recalled women meeting her on outdoor shoots and the reaction was pure affection. Maduri Dixit Nene’s latest release is ‘Mrs. Deshpande’, directed and written by Nagesh Kukunoor. Along with her, the six-episode series stars Siddharth Chandekar, Kevin Dave, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
