Makers of Kartik Aaryan starrer 'Tu Hai Aashiqui' clarify, 'It is not a remake of 'Baseraa''

The makers of Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Tu Hai Aashiqui’ have finally responded to the ongoing legal issue surrounding the third installment in the Aashiqui franchise. Earlier reports mentioned that the late producer Ramesh Behl’s family issued a legal notice to T-Series head Bhushan Kumar claiming that ‘Tu Hai Aashiqui’ is a remake of the 1981 release ‘Baseraa’. However, they have denied the allegations. A source close to the production team addressed the allegations in a statement to Times Now, and stated that they are not remaking ‘Baseraa’ and such assumptions are baseless and false. They also stated that the production house will soon reply to the notice, further adding that the team is dedicated to delivering quality music and entertainment and has no plans to deviate from this mission. ‘Baseraa’, starring Rakhee, Poonam Dhillon, Rekha, and Shashi Kapoor in lead roles, was directed by Ramesh Talwar and produced by the late Ramesh Behl. Ramesh Behl’s family stated that they own the rights to the film, and ‘Aashiqui 3’ can't use any intellectual properties without their permission. ‘Aashiqui 3’ changed its title to ‘Tu Hai Aashiqui’.
