‘My Bollywood goal is to be Ranvir’s sidekick’

Celebrity hairdresser Sapna Bhavnani had a blast doing a cameo in 'Ugly Aur Pagli'.
‘My Bollywood goal is to be Ranvir’s sidekick’
Loads of messages on her Facebook account from friends and strangers and tons of calls and SMSes later, Sapna Bhavnanis realised the impact her cameo in Ugly Aur Pagli has made.
Ive got so many calls and messages, its crazy. My friends in the press who went for the trial show said, Sapna, you have to watch yourself. You are so funny, she states.

When TOI spoke to her on Saturday, Sapna said she was going to watch the film with John Abraham that evening before leaving for the US for a film shoot. In fact, Bipasha, who also watched the film, said I should act in a film with her and John, giggles Sapna.
Her mom didnt know she was in the film before watching it. I wanted it to be a surprise. When she called me after the film, she was like, Oh my God, you were in it. You were looking great, by the way, she chortles.
She plays Aditi, Ranvir Shoreys hired girlfriend in the film. Interestingly, her first cameo was also as Ranvirs crazy girlfriend in Pyaar Ke Side Effects. Rangita Nandy, the producer of the film, is a good friend. This time when she approached me for this character, I said, Why not? But unlike Pyaar Ke..., this was a sync sound film and Im excited that my voice was used, says Sapna.
She had a blast doing the cameo. The reason? Ranvir Shorey. My Bollywood goal is to play Ranvirs sidekick. Hes really funny and its great fun having him around, she says. Ranvir comments on her hair in the film, saying, How can you aspire to be an actress with such bad hair?. That was an inside joke. It was Ranvirs idea, she says.
Ask her if shed consider meatier roles in Bollywood, and she says, Ive never thought about it. I did it for fun. Rangita asked me to come and say a few lines for five minutes. So I want to be a five-minute specialist, says Sapna. So is she loyal to Pritish Nandys production house? I like working with them because they take chances. Who else would actually think of casting me? she asks.
Yet shes the only hairdresser to have done Bollywood cameos. Would others follow suit? Why not? Im all for it, it would be great for our community, she chuckles.
