Rajpal Yadav resumes work after release from Tihar Jail, starts shooting for 'Welcome to the Jungle' - Reports
Rajpal Yadav is back on set as he begins shooting for ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, marking his first project since his release from Tihar Jail after being granted bail in a cheque bounce case. As per reports, the actor revealed that he wasted no time and started work soon after reaching Mumbai. He is also expected to meet the press during a conference scheduled for February 28.
The Delhi High Court recently approved an interim suspension of Rajpal’s sentence in the cheque bounce case, effective until March 18. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma’s bench instructed the actor to submit a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with a surety of the same amount. While granting this relief, the court observed that Rs 1.5 crore had already been deposited in the respondent’s bank account.
Soon after his release, Rajpal took to social media to express his gratitude toward his fans and well-wishers. Sharing his first public message on Instagram, the actor wrote in Hindi, "Aap sabbhi ke pyaar aur saath ke liye dil se dhanyawaad (Heartfelt thanks to all of you for your love and support)."
In a conversation with ANI, Rajpal spoke about his three-decade-long career in Indian cinema while also addressing the ongoing legal case. "I got the privilege of coming out, and regarding the matter which is in the honourable High Court, for any legal questions that arise, the one who will give proper facts and truth-filled answers is our lawyer, Mr. Bhaskar Upadhyay. I have given him the responsibility to stay in proper touch regarding this," he said.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ boasts an ensemble cast of more than 30 actors. The star-studded lineup includes Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, and Johnny Lever, among several others.
In November last year, Akshay Kumar posted a video from the sets of the film featuring Disha Patani. The two were seen dancing to the revamped version of the song ‘Uncha Lamba Kad’. In his caption, Akshay fondly mentioned his former co-star Katrina Kaif, reminiscing about the franchise’s nostalgia and writing, "Never forgetting our Queen Katrina."
The original ‘Welcome’, which hit theatres in 2007, featured Feroz Khan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Paresh Rawal, and was directed by Anees Bazmee. Its sequel, Welcome Back, released in 2015, starred John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles.
