Salman Khan's father Salim Khan hospitalized: Doctor shares health update, clarifies 'it was a procedure, not surgery'

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The father of Salman Khan was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) and is now under close observation. Several reports suggested that the patriarch of the Khan family underwent surgery after his blood pressure spiked, causing internal bleeding in the brain.

Official update on Salim Khan's health from the hospital

The hospital has released an official statement regarding Salim Khan's health. Dr. Jalil D. Parkar of Lilavati Hospital was quoted speaking to the media outside the hospital, "The procedure has been accomplished, he is fine, he is stable, he has been shifted to the ICU and by tomorrow I think we will get him off the ventilator. All in all, he is doing quite well."

The doctor continued, "There was no surgery performed. It was a procedure. So please do not say that there was a surgery performed. It was a procedure which we usually do. Just he had a brain haemorrhage, which was very minimal, which did not require any surgical intervention. Koi surgery ki jarurat nahi thi. Jo procedure karte hain, jaise angiography waise humne k procedure kiya hai unpar baki koi surgery nahi hui hai. (No surgery was needed. We have performed a procedure on him, similar to how an angiography is done; however, no other surgery has been performed.)"




Before the press address, Arbaaz Khan arrived with his brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri, and doctor Jalil Parkar, who is looking after Salim Khan at the hospital.

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, credited for writing celebrated Hindi films such as 'Sholay', 'Deewar', and 'Don' in collaboration with Javed Akhtar, was brought to the hospital by his family doctor, Sandeep Chopra, at around 8:30 in the morning on Tuesday.

Salman Khan reportedly left his shooting on Madh Island in Mumbai to be with his father. Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan with husband Atul Agnihotri, and Arpita Khan with husband Aayush Sharma also paid a visit to the ailing screenwriter at the hospital.

Meanwhile, when Salman left the hospital premises late in the night, he looked visibly disturbed. The actor is going through a rough phase not just professionally but personally as well. He lost a father-like figure, Dharmendra, in November last year, and now his own father has been admitted for brain hemorrhage.

Also, reportedly, Salman is set to stall all his immediate shootings to be with his father.
