Sanju, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan: Blockbusters rejected by Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut has come a long way in Bollywood! The actress marked her debut with ‘Gangster’ in 2006 and went on to deliver biggies like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ (2011), ‘Queen’ (2014), ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ (2011) and many more. In the past few decades, Kangana has also let go of several projects, which went on to become huge blockbusters. Take a look!

Sanju

Ranbir Kapoor delivered one of the biggest hits of his career with ‘Sanju’. This film was a biographical drama based on the life of Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut was offered to play the role of his onscreen wife. However, the actress reportedly turned the role down.

3/5

Sultan

Kangana Ranaut was offered to play the female lead alongside Salman Khan in ‘Sultan’. However she turned down the role and had her own reasons for the same. Kangana told PTI, “Coming from a double role space and doing so much more in my earlier films, I didn't want to demote myself to something which wasn't offering me so much. That's why I didn't do it. Knowing today's times, I'll go for something which will stimulate my mind; otherwise, I'll be just sleep walking through the film. Sultan, at that point of time, though it was a great character for a girl to play, I didn't see anything for me in that.”

4/5

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Kangana Ranaut lost out on yet another opportunity to share the frame with Salman Khan. Before ‘Sultan’, the actress reportedly rejected to play the leading lady in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. The reason for her turning down the role is not known. The makers eventually went ahead with Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leading lady and the film turned out to be a huge box office blockbuster.

The Dirty Picture

Kangana Ranaut was the first choice for this bold entertainer. However the actress failed to see potential in the film’s script and turned it down. Kangana had told ETimes, “I think ‘The Dirty Picture’, just like I always said, turned out to be so wonderful! But I don’t think I would have done it better than Vidya Balan because she was terrific in that. But yes, sometimes I feel that I didn’t see the potential in that film. Though I failed to see the opportunity in ‘The Dirty Picture’, I don’t regret it.”

Kangana Ranaut is trillions of times superior to gutter actresses like Deepika Paukone and Priyanka Chopra.
