Shefali Jariwala’s showbiz journey: From Salman Khan’s ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ to ‘Bigg Boss 13’- Here’s all you need to know
Shefali Jariwala passed away at just 42, leaving the internet shaken and her fans heartbroken. Known to many as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl, Shefali’s sudden demise on Friday has stunned friends and admirers, who are still struggling to come to terms with the sad news.
From ‘Kaanta Laga’ sensation to reality TV star
Shefali’s name first lit up across India thanks to the superhit remix ‘Kaanta Laga’ in 2002. The song, with Shefali’s bold look and energetic dance moves, became a pop-culture moment that people still remember. It turned her into an overnight star and earned her the lasting nickname ‘Kaanta Laga girl’.
But her career didn’t stop there. She explored different paths in entertainment, appearing in several reality shows. Fans enjoyed watching her on two seasons of ‘Nach Baliye’, where she shared the stage with her husband Parag Tyagi. She also made appearances on ‘Boogie Woogie’ and grabbed headlines when she entered the ‘Bigg Boss 13’ house.

A small yet memorable part in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’
Few people know that Shefali also featured in a Bollywood blockbuster alongside superstars Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. In the 2004 film ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, directed by David Dhawan, she appeared in a brief cameo. Though it was a small role, it was a special addition to her film journey, linking her to one of Bollywood’s biggest entertainers.
A leap to the South film industry with ‘Hudugaru’
Showing her versatility, Shefali didn’t limit herself to Hindi cinema. She ventured into the Kannada film industry with ‘Hudugaru’ in 2011. Directed by K. Madesh, the film starred Puneeth Rajkumar, Srinagar Kitty, Yogesh and Radhika Pandit. ‘Hudugaru’ was a remake of the Tamil film ‘Naadodigal’ and was well-received by the audience. Though Shefali’s role wasn’t the lead, it added a valuable feather to her cap as she explored different cinema landscapes.
Her last post – now painfully bittersweet
Just three days ago, Shefali had shared what would become her last Instagram post. It was a bold photoshoot that stunned her fans, with many commenting on how youthful and radiant she looked.
She wore a sparkly grey jumpsuit with a daring neckline, posing confidently under bright studio lights. The outfit had sheer sleeves and flared bottoms with vertical shimmer lines that perfectly hugged her figure. Her caption read, “Bling it on baby!” — words that, after her sudden passing, have left fans heartbroken.
The industry reacts with shock and sadness
As soon as the tragic news spread, many actors and celebrities expressed their shock and grief. Social media flooded with condolences, throwback pictures, and touching messages.
According to several reports, Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai late on Friday night by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others. Although it is widely believed she suffered a cardiac arrest, the exact cause of her death has not yet been officially confirmed. A hospital receptionist shared that Shefali had already passed away before she could reach the hospital.
