Shilpa Shirodkar on working with Govinda: I will be wrong if I say, 'Chi Chi used to come late', every movie got released on time

Not many actors have the opportunity to share a screen with some of the biggest stars in Bollywood, but actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who was last seen in Bigg Boss, knows very well what that feels like. She has openly shared her journey, personal life, and the various developments she has had in and out of the industry. In an open conversation with Pinkvilla, Shilpa gave some insight into working with Govinda and made fun of delays on set caused by Govinda's tantrums.

When asked about shooting delays and whether she ever had a co-star who was known for being late to set. With a laugh, she admitted that people probably expected her to name Govinda. But instead of confirming the stereotype, she defended him, saying she couldn’t recall a single time he ever turned up late for a shoot.


She shared, "I will be wrong if I say that Chi Chi used to come late. I don't even remember a single day when my shoot got cancelled or got delayed or I was made to wait for hours because Chi Chi didn't come on time. Different people may have different experiences, but I can never say that Govinda used to come late to his shootings. Every movie I have done with him was on time; they got finished on time and were even released on the scheduled time. Be it 'Aankhen' or 'Hum,' he has never been late."

Govinda and Sunita's marriage under the scanner

The first rumors of their separation circulated in February 2024, with reports stating Sunita had filed for divorce. Their lawyer confirmed this by noting she had filed a petition citing "misunderstandings," while Govinda's manager stated the issues were mostly related to their opinions about his movies. Govinda kept himself out of it, calling the issues "business talks."

Govinda and Sunita got married in 1987 and have two kids, Tina and Yashvardhan. Their marriage has had plenty of press over the years, including rumors of a breakup earlier. Govinda was one of the biggest Bollywood stars from the 1990s and most recently appeared in Rangeela Raja (2019). He has also recently entered active politics, joining Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena party in early 2024.
