Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Nagma: Celebs who contracted Covid-19 after they had received the first dose of the vaccine

It’s been over a year since the coronavirus pandemic brought lives to a standstill. Considering that actors were shooting constantly once the restrictions of the lockdown were eased, and had to take off masks while facing the camera, they were at higher risk of being infected. As a result of which, during the ongoing second wave of the outbreak, a lot more Bollywood celebs contracted the virus as opposed to last year. Being the responsible citizens that they are, they immediately self-isolated till they recovered. However, some of these celebs were unfortunately infected after they had received the first dose of the vaccine, which is because just a dose doesn't make one immune to the virus. Here are the celebs who had received the first dose of the vaccine before they contracted Covid-19.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is the latest celebrity to have contracted days the virus days after getting vaccinated. The actor took to his social media handles and informed his fans that he has tested positive. He wrote, ‘COVID-POSITIVE, MOOD & SPIRIT – SUPER POSITIVE’, he wrote, ‘Hi everyone, This is to inform you that I have tested positive this morning for COVID-19. As a part of precautions, I have already quarantined myself and taking utmost care. But don’t worry this gives me ample time to solve your problems. Remember I’m always there for you all. Last week Sonu had shared on Twitter that he had received the first dose of vaccine, “Got my vaccine today and now it’s time to get whole of my country vaccinated”, wrote Sonu.

Ashutosh Rana tested positive for Covid-19 and shared a detailed post informing about the same on his social media profile. The actor’s note read, "If you find out about an infection that is developing in your body on this very auspicious day, then nothing fortunate than this can happen. It is a special blessing of Goddess Durga that I came to know today on a sitting day (beithaki) that I am suffering from corona, I have immediately moved in the direction of getting rid of this disorder, I have unwavering faith in the grace of his Holiness Gurudev Daddaji that I will soon I will be healthy. I have also got my entire family tested, and their reports will come tomorrow. But after 7 April, all the friends, well-wishers and fans who have come in contact with me, you are requested to get yourselves tested." Actor couple Ashutosh Rana and Renuka Shahane had got their first shots of the Covid-19 vaccine on April 6. The couple had shared a picture from the vaccination centre too.

'Euphoria' singer Palash Sen tested positive for Covid-19 last week. In a statement, he mentioned that he had tested positive for coronavirus days after getting vaccinated. Taking to Instagram, Palash wrote, “Today is not a good news day. But today is the day I begin a new fight. Unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19, and I am under home quarantine. I am fighting this disease with a regular dose of rest, yoga, ayurveda, hydration, and rock n' roll. I request everyone who has come in contact with me in the last few days to get themselves tested and isolate themselves. This has happened despite me having recently taken the first dose of the vaccine.”He further added, Iss Covid ki majaal toh dekho, doctor pe humlaa? Koi nahin, bohoton ko face kiya hai isko bhi kar loonga (This Covid has some nerve to strike down a doctor. Never mind, I've dealt with so many, will deal with this, too).

A week ago, Nagma also tested positive for coronavirus. The actress took to her Twitter handle to share the news with her fans. She also stated that she had contracted the virus despite receiving the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on April 2, 2021. "Had taken my first dose of the vaccine a few days ago. Tested for Covid-19, my test has come positive so quarantined myself at home. All please take care and take necessary precautions. Even after taking the first dose of the vaccine, do not get complacent in any way manner. Stay safe," wrote Nagma. After receiving the first jab of the vaccine, the actress had informed, "Have taken my first dose of #CovidVaccine Yesterday in Mumbai running temperature, having headache cold and cough, eyes r burning at the moment hope all is well and it ends soon have been advised by the dr to stay at home for two days under observation".

Last month, the 65-year-old actor contracted the virus, weeks after taking the first jab of the vaccine. The veteran actor had mentioned, "Unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19."All those that have come in contact with me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested." On March 9, the actor had received his first vaccine shot. Thanking the Prime Minister, he wrote, "V for vaccines! Thanks to all the doctors and nurses and the front-line health care workers, and the scientists. Thanks, Narendra Modi".
