doweshowbellyad=0; Sonu Sood (TOI Photo)A few years back, when he was doing his engineering from one of the city colleges, nobody imagined that this shy, down-to-earth lad would make it big on silver screen one day. But Sonu Sood stuck to his guns. Having started with a few ramp shows and a few Tamil and Telugu movies, he's now coming into his own, with three big films in his kitty-one of them Sooraj Barjatya's Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi- in which he's playing the lead role opposite Ishaa Koppikar.
And if that's not classy enough, Sonu is also playing the role of Ash's brother in Jodhaa Akbar. NT catches up with the man on the move.
Barjatyas' new Prem"I was thrilled when I got the role of 'Prem, the eternal lover boy of Barjatyas. But the Prem of Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi, is today's man, who is chasing his dreams and also finds love. It's a matured story between two people who have seen the world and experienced all the sides--good and bad. There are a lot of wonderful songs and great music in the film."On Ishaa Koppikar"I had worked with Ishaa earlier in a Tamil film and I know that she's a good actress. In this film she's playing a traditional girl and seeing her, it's really difficult to believe that such a bindaas and glamorous girl can don the mantle of the girl next door with ease and finesse."Ash's 'brother'"I am playing the role of Ash's brother and the Rajput prince in Jodhaa Akbar, wherein I have as many scenes with her as Hrithik Roshan. People do ask me whether I have brotherly feelings for the most beautiful woman in the world. Frankly, I don't feel brotherly towards her but yes, she is a terrific co-star and a good friend. She's glowing after marriage. I, Ash and Abhishek used to have lunch together, whenever Abhi came to visit her."Akshay calling"I have just come back from Australia where I was shooting for the film Singh is Kinng with Akshay and Katrina, which is a rib tickling comedy completely in sync with the genre, that's the latest craze. One can learn a lot from Akshay!"The family man"While so many good things are happening on the career front, the family scene is rocking too. My little son Eshan is the new beacon of light in my life after my wife Sonali. I am grateful to god for all this."On abs brigade"I know it's the latest fad to flash your abs these days but I have been working on my body for years. I guess my abs are fine and muscles are toned enough! I am not getting into the six-pack or eight-pack hassle."
