Usha Mangeshkar, Hariharan, Dilip Joshi and many other celebs honoured at Newsmakers Achievers Awards 2026
The 18th edition of the Newsmakers Achievers Awards 2026, organised by Vaidehi Taman in Mumbai, spotlighted grassroots changemakers alongside achievers across fields. Held in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, the ceremony highlighted impactful work in social service and community development that often remains beyond mainstream visibility. The Governor honoured distinguished names including Usha Mangeshkar, Hariharan, Sanjeev Kapoor, Rahi Bhide, Sushma Deshpande, and Datta Bargaje for their contributions and lifetime achievements.
Among other awardees were Dilip Joshi, Atul Tiwari, Pooja Bedi, Devinder Walmiki, Vijay Kumbhar, Anuja Dhakras, Ajjibaichi Shala, and Lt. Kushagra Pathak (IFS), representing excellence across entertainment, theatre, wellness, sports, journalism, social education, and wildlife conservation. Sharing her vision, Vaidehi Taman said, “This platform honours not just success, but the spirit of perseverance, integrity, and contribution. Each awardee represents a journey that inspires society to strive for excellence with purpose.”
In the social impact category, Seva Vivek Sanstha was recognised for its grassroots work. A representative said, “This honour belongs to every volunteer and beneficiary who has been part of our journey. Our work has always been about collective effort and community strength.” Ajjibaichi Shala, which empowers elderly women through education, was also honoured. Founder Yogendra Bangar said, “Education has no age. Seeing grandmothers write their names for the first time is a moment of pride—not just for them, but for all of us.”
Datta Bargaje, known for supporting HIV-positive orphaned children, said, “These children are not just beneficiaries; they are our family. This recognition is a reminder that compassion and care can change lives.” Dr. Asha Mirge, recognised for women’s empowerment, noted, “When a woman becomes self-reliant, an entire family progresses. This award strengthens our commitment to continue working at the grassroots level.”
Krishna Mohini, honoured for promoting inclusivity, said, “Representation matters.
