Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif love story: From a chance meeting at Zoya Akhtar’s party to celebrating first Mother's Day with son Vihaan

This Mother’s Day became especially memorable for Katrina Kaif, as she celebrated the occasion for the first time after welcoming her son, Vihaan, with husband Vicky Kaushal. Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have one of Bollywood’s most admired love stories. What began quietly away from the spotlight eventually became a relationship celebrated by millions. The first chapter of their journey started in 2019. The two reportedly met for the first time at a gathering hosted by Zoya Akhtar. Around the same period, they appeared together at an award ceremony. During the event, Vicky jokingly proposed to Katrina on stage. What seemed like a playful moment later took on a special meaning.

That same year, they sat across from each other on Film Companion’s TapeCast. Katrina said, “This is a great place to meet each other.” Vicky replied, “Exactly what I was going to say. This is the first time we're going to sit across from each other and talk about each other's lives. It's going to be recorded.”

As 2019 came to an end, speculation about their relationship began to intensify. They were spotted together at Sonam Kapoor’s Diwali party. Fans immediately sensed that a romance was blossoming. Neither Vicky nor Katrina confirmed the relationship publicly. However, subtle moments on social media kept the rumours alive. One photograph posted by Katrina drew significant attention. She appeared leaning on someone wearing a mustard-colored T-shirt. Fans quickly noted that Vicky owned a similar shirt. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Vicky was also seen visiting Katrina’s residence.

For nearly two years, the couple kept their relationship private. There were no public announcements. Instead, they allowed their bond to grow away from cameras and headlines. On December 9, 2021, Vicky and Katrina officially became husband and wife. They married in an intimate three-day ceremony at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan.

After marriage, the couple began sharing light-hearted stories about their relationship. In interviews with SCREEN and No Filter with Neha, Vicky revealed that Katrina used to call him “khadoos.” “She used to feel that my resting face is khadoos,” he said. He admitted that while he is usually the first to apologize, he can be stubborn until he is convinced. Katrina also called him the “most unromantic gift giver.” In one of the interviews, when asked what he had last gifted his wife, Vicky answered, “Jewellery.”

In November 2025, the couple entered a new and emotional phase of their lives. On November 7, Vicky shared joyful news with fans and announced the birth of their baby boy. “Our bundle of joy has arrived. With immense love and gratitude, we welcome our baby boy. 7th November, 2025 - Katrina and Vicky.”

This year’s Mother's Day held special significance for Katrina, as it marked her very first Mother’s Day after embracing motherhood. The occasion became even more heartwarming when Katrina received a handwritten card and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Vihaan and Vicky. Katrina shared the touching moments on Instagram. The first photograph featured a greeting card with a loving message that read, “Happy first Mother's Day my love! Love, Vihaan and Papa Kaushal!” A bouquet of pink roses was also placed alongside the card. The second picture captured a tender moment between mother and son. Katrina was seen holding a children’s book, while little Vihaan’s tiny fingers rested on the pages. The book was titled, “The very hungry caterpiller.”
