When stardom didn’t follow the surname: Star kids who missed the mark

Athiya Shetty

Athiya’s launch opposite Sooraj Pancholi had Salman Khan’s backing and massive media attention. However, her performance was underwhelming and failed to spark audience connection. Despite appearing in a few films like Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor, she never gained momentum in the industry and has since stayed away from the big screen.

2/6

Esha Deol

With Bollywood royalty for parents, expectations were sky-high. While Esha did star in a few commercial hits like Dhoom and No Entry, her career lacked consistency. Critics often felt her acting didn’t quite match her screen presence, and over time, she faded from the film circuit.

3/6

Jackky Bhagnani

With his father backing him through multiple films, Jackky got plenty of chances — F.A.L.T.U., Ajab Gazabb Love, and Youngistaan, to name a few. But despite the big push, none of his movies managed to strike gold at the box office, and his performances failed to make an impression. He has since turned to film production, with more success behind the scenes.

4/6

Riya Sen

Riya was launched with glamour and buzz and even had a few popular songs to her name, but her film choices never clicked. Often typecast in brief, sensuous roles, her acting chops remained underutilized. Despite her iconic lineage, she faded into obscurity quickly, with more visibility in music videos than movies.

5/6

Sooraj Pancholi

Like Athiya Shetty, Sooraj too was launched with fanfare under Salman Khan’s mentorship. But the film didn't make much impact, and his acting received lukewarm response. His name remained more in the headlines for off-screen controversies than performances. As of now, a solid comeback still seems far away.

6/6

Tanishaa Mukerji

Despite her star-studded family background and a few chances in Bollywood and the South, Tanishaa couldn’t make a mark. Her most remembered roles remain Neal 'n' Nikki and Bigg Boss 7 rather than any cinematic success. Compared to her sister Kajol’s massive stardom, Tanishaa’s career failed to take flight.
