When Sunita Ahuja said, "You have to be very strong to be an actor’s wife"

Bollywood star Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja is known for her blunt honest statements. She has always spoken her heart out in the most candid way, and this is something that a lot of people adore about her. Today, while scavenging through the internet archives, we came across one of her old interviews, where she gave her honest take on being an actor’s wife.

While speaking to us exclusively back in 2021, Sunita Ahuja said, “Not just Govinda, it is a useless thing to be any star’s wife. You have to be very strong to be an actor’s wife but we fell in love when I was 15 years old. Ours was love at first sight and despite all the ups and down, we don’t leave each other.”

She further mentioned that getting separated from her husband is not her book. “Govinda and I have been married for 36 years, ours is a strong love; we are not meant to divorce, it's not what my parents have taught me. When I got married, my mother told me that I can leave my husband’s home only when I die. One has to sacrifice a lot to be an actor’s wife,” she added.

In the same conversation, she spilled the beans on their love story. She told us her sister was married to Govinda’s uncle, and she used to stay there, and that is where the two met. She recounted the time they used to enjoy dancing together. Their courtship period began when the two were very young, and then Sunita got married to Govinda as she turned 18.

Recently, Sunita made headlines when she spoke about converting to Christianity. While on the Timeout With Ankit Podcast, Sunita shared that being raised in a Christian environment, and attending a Christian school she was always curious about the religion and their customs. She even jokingly mentioned, “Just to have some wine, I got myself baptized.” Jokes aside, she goes to church every Saturday.
