Aditi Rao Hydari: Interesting facts about the actress

Aditi Rao Hydari has been grabbing the spotlight in Bollywood of late. She was recently lauded for her portrayal of Mehrunisa, the wife Alauddin Khilji in ‘Padmaavat’. Although Aditi has a career spanning more than a decade in the showbiz, very little is known about the actress. Here we give you a rundown of some interesting facts about the Hyderabadi beauty...
2/6

Belongs to two royal lineages

Aditi Rao Hydari is royalty alright, as she belongs to not one but two royal families! From the paternal side, she is the great-granddaughter of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, who was the former Prime Minister of Hyderabad province back in the day. From the maternal side, she is the granddaughter of Raja J Rameshwar Rao, who headed the Wanaparthi royal family back in the day. Not only that, she is half Hyderabadi and half Konkani, as her father was a Bohri Muslim and mother was a Mangalorean. Now that’s an interesting mix of cultures, to say the least.
3/6

Avid Bharatnatyam dancer

The actress has always been fond of dancing and is a qualified Bharatnatyam dancer. In fact, she took up the traditional dance form at the age of six. Subsequently, she became the disciple of famous and acclaimed Bharatnatyam dancer Leela Samson. Seeing the grace she carries in the way she dances and moves in general, it comes as no surprise that she has such a rich background in the field of dancing.
4/6

Made her acting debut in Tamil

Aditi is no stranger when it comes to regional cinema. She made her debut in the world of films with a Tamil period drama titled as ‘Sringaram’, where she played the role of a Devadasi. The film had lots of classical dancing involved and with her strong Bharatnatyam training, Aditi was a natural choice. However, even though ‘Sringaram’ was her first project; her first film to release in theaters was the Malayalam film ‘Prajapathi’ where she shared screen space with Mammootty. She still continues to do regional films and was the leading lady of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ that released last year.
5/6

Kept her marriage under wraps for few years

Her personal life is also quite interesting. Apparently, the actress was married to actor Satyadeep Mishra in the year 2007. Aditi denied their relationship for quite some time but in an interview in 2013 she accepted her marital status and added that they were now separated. Reportedly, the actress met him when she was seventeen and it was her first serious relationship. However, the two have remained close friends over the years.
6/6

Playback singing in her own film

Aditi an already accomplished actor and dancer also tried her hands on playback singing and as it turned out, she was pretty good at it! She first did fulltime playback singing in the 2012 romantic comedy ‘London, Paris, New York’ where she starred alongside Ali Zafar. Aditi went on to sing two songs in the film along with her co-star and it was refreshing to see her trying new frontiers and furthering her talent. Although, considering she is the daughter of Hindustani singer Vidya Rao it is not surprising that singing runs in the family.
